Fixing problems with adding an eID card
What does it mean when an ID card is activated?
You need to activate your eID, before logging in for the first time. It only has to be activated once in the eOsebna mobile app, which the State has provided for all citizens. During the activation process, you should set a password for your eID and save it carefully. You can change your password or unlock a locked eID in the eOsebna mobile app. The management of the eID is in the government’s domain and these functionalities are not supported by the BetrSign app.
Error: The card is locked - what should I do?
If you enter the wrong password too many times, your eID will be locked. To unlock, you will need a PUK code and the eOsebna mobile app. For more information on unlocking, click here.
The card is locked.
Error: I forgot my PIN - what should I do?
To reset your password, you will need a PUK code and the eOsebna mobile app. For more information on resetting your password, click here.
Smartphone with NFC
NFC enables communication with a neighbouring field (NFC) or chip reading, and most smartphones have it today, but the location of the reader can vary from one smarthphone to another. You can find this information online. For your smartphone to read the eID, you need to position it’s chip to the NFC reader.
- On iPhones, the NFC reader is on top and the chip is read more successfully on the back.
- Android phones have the reader in different locations, so you can position the eID to the top, middle and bottom.
Fixing problems with NFC reader
If the eID verification is unsuccessful, try positioning it on the front of the smartphone. If necessary, try moving the eID closer and further away from the NFC reader.
In addition, check “Settings” that the NFC reader is switched on.
If your phone does not have an NFC reader, the following screen will appear in the app:
The app has informed you that your device doesn't have an NFC reader
Activate your electronic ID card
To log in, you will require a Slovenian ID card issued after 28 March 2023 with a chip with personal digital certificates. Please also prepare the password you have set for your ID card.
You must activate your ID card before you register for the first time. You can only activate it once in the eOsebna mobile app.
